BEST pruning climbing roses video I have watched! Thank you!
Yes, I enjoyed the video. However, mentioning the ZONE of each would have been most helpful.
Can you use a pump up sprayer with the diluted fish emulsion and spray the foliage?
We strongly advise not to spray the foliage with the fertilizer. Instead it should be watered into the soil at the base of the plant with a watering can.
I have some 🌹 leaves are black and brown dots how take care them
Hello! We recommend following the steps in this how-to article for treating blackspot. heirloomroses.com/blogs/how-to-articles/prevent-and-treat-blackspot. If you still have questions or concerns please send some photos to our customer care team via email they would be happy to help you. Their email is info@heirloomroses.com.
Beautiful
I agree! The bucket is absolutely brilliant!! Revolutionized my watering schedule for ALL my plantings - such a time and work saver! Thank you, Ben!
I'm really glad you let people speak in the language they're comfortable with! Man, honestly I keep falling more and more in love with this company. I've ordered 6 roses from you so far, but I'm planning on ordering another 20 when I get my irrigation set up for my main home, and probably 20 more for the home my wife's grandfather built. You're planning on putting Medallion out again, right? Because I will be ordering that one the SECOND it is available again The only other company I've ordered from is David Austin, and I only ordered from there because the ones I wanted weren't available from your site at the time. I am going to start gifting sets of roses to a friend once she picks her house out.
So happy to hear that. As for Medallion, we are currently growing that rose and are unable to give you a precise date of when it will be ready to ship due to the rose having to pass our quality examinations. We would highly recommend that you join the rose's waitlist because you will be the first to know when it is available!
What do you do if your neighbor is coming in to your front yard and stealing the bloomed roses?
Khub sundor❤❤❤
Gorgeous can you name the roses shown please???😊
Beautiful
Should I bring the container inside during the winter months?
Hello! We strongly recommend that you don't bring your roses indoors during the winter, as this will void your warranty with us. Instead here is a link to another video discussing how to prepare your potted rose for the winter months. heirloomroses.com/blogs/how-to-articles/preparing-and-protecting-your-container-roses-for-the-winter
One word, succinct !
Love it
Hi, I just planted my roses in the ground and mulch them well as instructed. Do I water if soil still moist under the mulch? Or the 2-3 times/week watering rule for new rose still applies despite the mulch?
Hello! We recommend testing the soil regularly. You can do this by testing the soil with your finger to know when to water. If your finger is completely dry, your plants need more water. If it is muddy, there might be too much water or not enough drainage. Another indicator of too much watering is yellowing leaves that are soft. Yellowing leaves that are dry and crispy can indicate insufficient watering. If the soil is moist, that will indicate that the watering is just right. You can also use a moisture meter like the one we sell on our website, heirloomroses.com/products/3-in-1-soil-meter-1?_gl=1*3q97hf*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwyJqzBhBaEiwAWDRJVBtKmTEqUpAkc97rRAGiHwnhiPjJmlt8h_PXUY2NWVCvBiasDrzgNBoCBXAQAvD_BwE
My Earth Angel is just about one year old and has about 3 new canes. Is the plant to young to start removing the older canes?
For a 1-year-old rose, it's generally not necessary to remove older canes. In fact, at this stage, your rose bush is still establishing itself, and it's important to allow it to grow and develop a strong structure. In the first year, only focus on removing and dead damaged foliage and canes.
Flower Garden beautiful cute... Frist Comment.. 🥰🥰😁😁🌹🌺🌷💐😘😘👍👍
I've ordered like 10 roses from you guys! I am looking for something that is light pink, or lavender, has HUGE blooms, and lasts a long time in a vase. Think like a pale version of the Abraham Lincoln rose Any advise? I love huge blooms and pastels.
Yes! I would recommend Compassion, Blue Moon, Poseidon, Purple Fragrance, and Quicksilver. You can find all of them on our website, heirloom roses.com, and if these roses don't quite fit what you want, you can use the filters in the search menu to help narrow it down.
@heirloomroses Oooh thank you! If you can think of any more large bloom roses let me know I have a bunch in my wishlist and once I get my drip irrigation sorted I'll be making an order for myself, gifts for my mother-in-law, and some roses for my grandmother's property
I am curious if you have an updated video of this climbing rose now? Would love to see it!!
Unfortunately we do not have an updated video of this rose, but if you watch one of our more recent pruning videos on climbing roses, ua-cam.com/video/iNfSaH5fLUM/v-deo.html Ben goes over the pruning process on a different rose. That video does have a follow up video that describes how Ben's pruning benefited the rose.
@heirloomroses is it safe to mix composted manure in with the potting soil or should it just be used as a top dressing?
Hello! We recommend that you place the manure in the bottom of the hole so your rose's roots can best absorb the nutrients from it.
@@heirloomroses Thank you for the quick reply! I'm just worried about burning roots.
I am in The UK and purchased Louise Clements as a bare root rose. I thought she was taller than 3 feet. At Peter Beales she is advertised as being 4 feet. Please can you clarify - as I may need to move her position. Thanks.
Hi! The Louise Clements rose will typically grow between three to four feet tall and three to four feet wide.
Want some 😊😊😊
Can I do this right now? My rose bushes are out of control and very very long
We recommend that you don't do a hard prune this time of year. But you can trim it back and shape your rose now to encourage new growth a better shape. When spring comes again you can do a hard prune of your roses and they will be beautiful by summer.
How do you prune the multiple offshoots on the lateral canes the following year?
Hello! We recommend that you do not prune those offshoots. Instead, you should keep training them and building them up the desired shape of your rose. Once the yearly prune comes, you should only remove the canes that are growing across each other and are rubbing, along with old unhealthy canes. Over time as the main/leading canes begin to grow too old, you will have another "main" cane growing from the lateral growth or from the base of the plant that is already trained to shape and can replace the old growth.
Thank you fir my roses 🥀 You are the best company out there 😊 Very happy with my 5th purchase! Blessings
Thank you for your kind words. Wishing you a happy growing season!
Excellent video! I love that you explain what you're doing and WHY! ¶ SUGGESTION: in this video you explained your plan for future growth of this plant. NOW do a follow-up video of how THIS plant did in the next growing season. Add a link in THIS video description to the follow-up video. ¶ In the follow-up, Insert clips from THIS video stating what your intentions were, and then SHOW us how that worked out in the next season. ¶ As they say, "proof is in the blooming!" Again, excellent video, and thank you for your efforts to educate us.
Happy to help!
Do I have to plant the bud onion of a rose below the soil level if it’s in a pot?
Hi there! We only sell own-root roses, so you don't have to worry about bud unions as you would with grafted roses.
We always used cow manure for our vegetable garden on our ranch. Dad would clean the cow lot and put it in the garden working it in with the rotor tiller. We always had a bounty.
My favorite is the Tropicana rose.. hybrid tea from Louisiana. Lovely orange.. spicy fragrance
When I’m looking to order can you explain pink and black stake or tag?
Hello! When you purchase a rose from us, you have the option to add a stake or tag to your order that has the rose’s name engraved on it. The stake will puncture the earth in front of your rose bush, and the tag can be fastened around the base of the rose with a weather-proof tie. We understand that even the most passionate gardeners may occasionally forget the specifics of their plantings, which is why this stake or tag serves as an invaluable aid, ensuring you always remember the variety of rose and its precise location in your garden.
Perfect thank you
Please talk about how to plant these roses and how to feed them
Great idea! We'll see what we can do. For now, check out this article: heirloomroses.com/blogs/how-to-articles/planting-roses
Wow that was amazing
I’ve ordered 2 roses from you so far and plan to order more. How far apart do I need to plant each bush? This will also help me determine how many rose bushes I need. Thank you.
It will depend on the size of the roses you get, but spacing 2 feet apart should accommodate!
Thank you! I ordered Blue girl and Sand castle. I plan to have 10 total of your roses but these 2 are my first. I will plant them 2 feet apart as stated.
Dig hole. Add to hole 1 part peat moss, 1 part living or good soil (no granular fertilizer soil mix), 1 cup bone meal and 1/2 bag worm castings. Mix it up. Start holes before roses arrive to break up planting process. Use rose box to make weed barrier around rose cutting triangles where canes come out. Water in well with liquid fish fertilizer. ☺
More said than just water your roses. Thanks for informative video. What are your thought on rabbit manure as a compost. I have tons of it and seems to be working nicely on my shrubs.
If it's working for you, keep it up!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
So glad I’ve found this video. I think it’s too late in the year (end of may) to prune and train. When is the best time. I noticed you had leaves on your rose?
We recommend pruning at the start of spring, which will depend on where you live and the weather.
Make a PROpAGATion video plsss
Hi I have roses in pots I want to know that I have fed them with granules feed.when can I start with liquid feed Thanks
Hi there! We recommend applying liquid fertilizer every four weeks during the growing season.
What about transplanted mature climbers where the leaves turned brown even after heavy watering? They had to be moved in mid May in West Michigan from a church that is for sale. I am not sure whether to cut them back or leave them until next Spring. Would appreciate your expert advice.
Hi there! We can't say for sure, but we'd recommend removing any dead leaves. Keep an eye out for insects or fungus, however, some roses have naturally darker foliage!
blessing this years
Great video! Do you have recommendation for a white color climbing rose? 😊
Eden Climber is our most popular, but we also like Iceberg and Cloud 10!
Can we do this if the plant already has blooms on it?
Hi there! Yes you can!
Love the videos. Thank yall. I just received my first beneficial insects yesterday & they'll be going out today.
Happy to help!
I just planted a grandiflora gold medal rose for my wife. I’m new to this. Your video is great. I just wanted to know if it’s ok to dead head all summer ?
Totally! Deadheading will encourage more blooms. Read more here: heirloomroses.com/blogs/how-to-articles/dead-heading
Love the videos, just bought a Eden :) The watering bucket is for more established roses?
this years beautiful roses God bless you blessing
Just remember for colder zones you need to find a plant that is two zones hardier than your zone. I live in zone 6 so I would need to plant a plant that is hardy to zone 4 in a container. 💐💚🙃
I bought two of your roses and lost one. I am not new to growing roses so was disappointed. I will follow this faithfully. I have to say, the roses I got were not nearly as nice and bushy as the one being shown in this video.
Sorry to hear that! Check out our one year warranty and let us help you succeed: heirloomroses.com/pages/warranty-claim
I planted a bareroot rosebush the soil is clay so i dug a large hole combined maybe half the soil an half holy cow manure i did this 2 weeks ago we have had alot of rain an the soil stayed soaked for days, so the i noticed the tips of new growth is died off but the original leaves are stlll perky an green, any adive would be SO APPRECIATED. I 've looked for 10 years for this rosebush.. "Camalot " its a salom color an its so beatiful almost like in yours in the video..
The new growth dying off is most likely due to the excess water. Pruning should help!
